The Yasaka shrine complex is huuuge. There’s a park with a lake and stream, many different paths and smaller shrines all around the complex. There’s a very big cherry tree in the park, and many smaller trees. It’s gorgeous in the fall, and gorgeous in the spring. I’ll be posting more about Yasaka when I get to March (my mom visted me & I took her to Kyoto).
I went to a temple that was very close to Yasaka shrine…I’m not sure of the name, but it was very nice. I was basically the only one there, because it was 9 am, so it was kind of eerie. But it was very calm and peaceful. I love temples and shrines.
Wow! Been a while since I was there and still it looks great!
Strange, the autumn leafs are already turning blood red? I figure it wouldn’t turn at least till October
This post is from November 2008; sorry, I haven’t posted the other Kyoto blogs yet.
Wow the photos are great and the place looks so peaceful.
Just happened to see your website after visiting WordPress.com. It looks nice but your photos load very slowly. I am in Japan too using a high speed connection, so I know it is not my connnection, but the fact that your photos you uploaded are large and not resized.
These are so inspiring. I’ve been reading books about Japanese gardens to try and transform my desert backyard. This was much better!
Nice pictures of the shrine. I saw your post on the main page on word press. I can’t wait to see what you put up next. Keep up the great work.
