I went to Koriyama with Kimie, to eat at an Indian restaurant and buy my cell phone. We didn’t get my cell phone that day, I ended up having to wait a week and put it under my host dad’s name…but it was a great night anyway!

The organization that sponsored me had a welcome party for myself and another がいじん (foreigner) at the Rice Lake International House (which is exactly what it sounds like!). His name’s Adam, and his hometown is 10 minutes from where I live, although we’d never met before I lived in Miharu! He teaches at the local middle schools, and he’s a pretty cool guy!

My first host family, Hiro and Keiko Tanabe. He is/was the President of the organization that sponsored me, and they're the cutest, nicest couple.

Our whole group! We were in the newspaper.
